This year, Martin Whitfield MP is asking local businesses and community groups to add a little Christmas spice to their Secret Santa and help raise money for charity.
The Charity Retail Association – who represent charity shops across the UK – is running its “Good Cause Santa Claus” campaign suggesting businesses and other groups who run a Secret Santa in the office buy their gifts from charity shops only.
This will raise much needed additional funds for charities in the run up to Christmas, as well as being better for the environment and great fun for all those involved.
Martin Whitfield MP said:
“Most people love the idea of discovering the treasures in our local charity shops, so why not make your Secret Santa all about supporting a local charity? As well as helping charities, this is also a greener option as buying second hand means re-use and less waste.
“Every way you look at it, it’s a great idea and I hope any local businesses or other groups having a Secret Santa in the office will make it a good cause one this year.”
