Martin Whitfield MP has urged the Government to hold a debate recognising the vital role of assistance dogs ahead of this year’s International Guide Dogs Day on Wednesday 24th April.
Mr Whitfield raised the issue at Business Questions in the Commons and also took the opportunity to highlight Iain Gray MSP’s guide dog puppy Giles who is competing to the be Scottish Parliament’s Dog of the Year.
Martin Whitfield MP said:
“I was pleased to ask the Leader of the House of Commons Andrea Leadsom if we can have a debate on the value and importance of assistance dogs to mark International Guide Dogs Day 2019 later this month.
“It was also a great opportunity to promote Iain Gray MSP’s guide dog puppy, Giles, who is in the running for Holyrood Dog of the year. Giles’s entry in the contest is another way of publicising the vital role played by guide dogs across the UK.”
