This year’s Armed Forces Day is taking place on Saturday 29th June, with events across the UK to celebrate and thank everyone in the Armed Forces community, including the men and women currently serving, veterans, cadets and Service families.

Ahead of the day, East Lothian Council has shown the county’s support by holding a ceremony to raise a special Armed Forces Day flag to mark the day.

Martin Whitfield MP said:

“Armed Forces Day gives communities the opportunity to say thank you to those that are currently serving on our behalf in a difficult and challenging world, but also to Service families and those who have served in the past and are now veterans.

“We rightly owe a responsibility and gratitude to those that have given so much. Armed Forces Day is a time to pay tribute to them all and I’m pleased that East Lothian has demonstrated its support by flying the special Armed Forces Day flag.”
