This July, Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now are asking people to get together with friends and family and hold an Afternoon Tea.

Breast Cancer Care’s Afternoon Tea fundraiser has been running since 1998, with £740,000 raised last year. The money raised helps enable the charities to carry out more world-class research, provide more life-changing support and campaign more effectively for breast cancer services and care.

Martin Whitfield MP is helping to promote the Afternoon Tea in East Lothian to help the charity reach its target of encouraging 8,000 people to get involved to raise even more vital funds to help people affected by breast cancer.

Martin Whitfield MP said:

“I’m delighted to be supporting Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now’s #AfternoonTea this July.

“In Scotland, around 4,700 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. We need to ensure that vital research and support is maintained to help the charities meet their goal that by 2050, everyone who develops breast cancer will live and be supported to live well.

“So I’m saying to people in East Lothian please consider holding an Afternoon Tea this July and help support local people affected by breast cancer.”
