A petition calling for the UK Government to review how people with epilepsy are assessed for PIP has been backed by Martin Whitfield MP.
Epilepsy Scotland has launched the ‘Get a Grip on PIP’ petition to build on its campaign focusing on problems experienced by people with epilepsy when undergoing PIP assessments.
The charity is attempting to secure 100,000 signatures in order to push for the matter to be debated in Parliament.
Mr Whitfield has already highlighted the issue and Epilepsy Scotland’s campaign in an Early Day Motion (EDM) in Parliament earlier this year.
Martin Whitfield MP said:
“I’m delighted to support Epilepsy Scotland’s campaigning on this issue and specifically its call for an urgent review of PIP assessments for people with the condition to ensure they are fair for all.
“Earlier this year I tabled an Early Day Motion backing the campaign and highlighting the issue. This petition builds on the launch and the EDM and I hope the charity can reach its target and get a review of PIP on the Government’s agenda.”
