The caravan industry remains a key part of the leisure and tourism sectors, contributing more than £6 billion p.a. to the UK economy.

As a coastal area, the sector is an important part of East Lothian’s economy with a number of caravan parks located within the county.

This week Martin Whitfield MP met with representatives of the sector’s trade body, the National Caravan Council (NCC), to discuss some topical issues facing the industry.

Martin Whitfield MP said:

“The caravan industry is an important part of the tourism sector in East Lothian, providing services for visitors and jobs for local people.

“It was good to meet with representatives of the National Caravan Council in Parliament to discuss some topical issues affecting the sector with them, including Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates on motorhomes.”
