Martin Whitfield MP has welcomed the EU27 announcement that it has agreed it will accept the UK’s request for a Brexit flextension until 31 January 2020.

Speaking about the decision, Martin Whitfield MP said:

“This is a vital development, meaning Boris Johnson has failed to deliver his ‘do or die’ pledge.

“We are not leaving the EU this week and we now have secured some crucial time in the battle to give the people of the UK a final say on Brexit.

Leaving the EU would be catastrophic for Scotland and the UK. The only way through this mess is with a confirmatory referendum, giving people the choice between Mr Johnson’s bad deal and the best deal we already have as a member of the EU.”
