Marking Armed Forces Day 2019

This year's Armed Forces Day is taking place on Saturday 29th June, with events across the UK to celebrate and thank everyone in the Armed Forces community, including the men and women currently serving, veterans, cadets and Service families. Visiting award-winning local games studio

Martin Whitfield MP and Iain Gray MSP have visited the East Linton office of award-winning games developer 4J Studios following its key role in Minecraft becoming the best selling game of all time. Celebrating benefits of employee ownership

Employee Ownership Day 2019 is taking place on Friday 28th June and Martin Whitfield MP has shown his support for the day by visiting local employee owned business Jerba Campervans. Great Get Together event thanks local volunteers

As part of this year’s UK-wide Great Get Together weekend (21 to 23 June) activities, Martin Whitfield MP today hosted an afternoon tea event for charities and volunteers in the Tranent area. Held at the town’s Loch Centre, Mr Whitfield hosted the event to say thank you to local volunteers and charities for the work they undertake with and on behalf of local communities throughout the year. Mr Whitfield welcomed volunteers and staff from a variety of local organisations including East Lothian Foodbank, Radio Saltire, Dementia Friendly Tranent, Carefree Kids, Recharge, Roots and Fruits, Blooming Belters and Macmerry Men’s Shed. Praise for Headway art exhibition

An exhibition of art produced by members of the Headway East Lothian group has been praised by local MP Martin Whitfield. The Outdoor to Indoor art project saw members work with Linda McCann of Canndhu Productions, to explore both rural and urban areas, taking impressions through sound, memory, photos and physical reminders. The art produced during the project is now on display at Dunbar Town House Museum and Gallery until Friday 28th June (1pm to 5pm every day). Martin’s got the bottle for National Refill Day

This National Refill Day (Wednesday 19th June) Martin Whitfield MP is joining campaigners to urge East Lothian residents to ditch single-use water bottles. Organised by the Refill campaign and Water UK, National Refill Day is calling on parliamentarians to join the British public and stop buying single-use plastic water bottles and pledge to carry a reusable one instead.
